ESOL Voices: Student Spotlight
Karla Acosta Cabrera
Karla Acosta Cabrera is originally from Cuba and has been living in the United States for almost one year. She earned a degree in Nuclear Engineering from her studies in Cuba. Since moving to Rochester, her biggest goal has been to learn English because it is essential for continuing her studies and starting a Master of Science in Medical Physics, which is her dream and aspiration for the future. The fall 2024 semester was her first one as an MCC student, and even though she has only taken courses in the ESOL program, they have significantly helped her improve her language skills. If you are reading this short bio, remember to always allow yourself to dream. Read Karla's story.
ESOL Voices is a collection of stories written by ESOL students at Monroe Community College. This publication highlights our MCC students who come from all over the world. Look for new stories in the Tribune. Search for older stories on our Omeka page maintained by librarian Dax Parasnis-Samar. We hope you enjoy these stories as much as we do.
