Five MCC Students Among 193 Recipients of SUNY's Highest Honor for Academic Excellence and Leadership
Five MCC students received Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence (CASE) Tuesday in Albany. The five students were among 193 from 63 campuses to receive SUNY's highest honor for academic excellence and leadership. The awards recognize students for outstanding achievements throughout their SUNY experience in academics, leadership, campus involvement, community service, and the arts.

Alexander Evans
- Major: Business Administration: Accounting
- Hometown: Baldwinsville, NY
- Activities/Accomplishments:
- Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
- National Society for Leadership and Success
- Career Peer Advisor
- Senior Resident Assistant for the Residence Halls.
Judi Razafintsalama
- Major: Communications and Public Media Relations
- Hometown: Antananarivo, Madagascar
- Activities/Accomplishments:
- Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
- President of the MCC Global Union
- Organizers of multiple fundraisers
- Dean’s list each semester at MCC
Angelo Romero
- Major: Liberal Arts, Social Sciences, and Global Sciences
- Hometown: Rochester, NY
- Activities/Accomplishments:
- Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
- President of the Student Government Association
- Vice President of Governance and Elections Coordinator
- Community College Representative in the SUNY Student Assembly
Mara Waynick
- Major: Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Hometown: Carlsbad, CA
- Activities/Accomplishments:
- President of the Alpha Theta Iota Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
- Lead STEM Supplemental Instructor at MCC.
- Education advocate
- Plans to attend St. John Fisher University
Oleksandra Zakharchyshyn
- Major: Liberal Arts Adolescence Education
- Hometown: Ukraine
- Activities/Accomplishments:
- Treasurer of the Global Student Union
- Chair of the Phi Theta Kappa Alpha Theta Iota Chapter
- Secretary of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America, Branch #120
