More Book Buddies Needed for “If All of Rochester Read…” Program

Writers & Books, Inc. in cooperation with the Visiting Scholars Series and the MCC English Philosophy Department have chosen The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti as the 2011 “If All of Rochester Read the Same Book”… selection. Twenty-six MCC staff and faculty have volunteered to be a Book Buddy to my Introduction to Literature class that has 33 people enrolled. To make this a memorable reading experience for MCC students, I need 7 more faculty and staff volunteers to be Book Buddies.

Once I have a Book Buddy for each of my students, I will e-mail my syllabus and Reader’s Guides to all faculty and staff enrolled in the program. The staff at the MCC Bookstore says that copies of The Good Thief will be available for purchase. Writers & Books also currently has copies for sale. My class will begin to read the book by the second week in March.

The Visiting Scholars Series will host a luncheon on Wednesday, March 23 at noon in the Forum. MCC will host Hannah Tinti on Friday, March 25 at noon in the Warshof Conference Center, Flynn Campus Center -- Monroe A and B.

Don’t hesitate to call (x3303) or email "mailto:epierce@monroecc.edu" with any questions. I look forward to working with you to provide this experience for our students.
