Supporting Our Students with Disabilities

On December 4th and 11th, Stephany Lee, LMSW from Disability Services partnered with Shameka Martinez, MSW and Julissa Gonzalez, BSW, from EDIWS, to provide workshops on Disability Awareness. The purpose of the training was to help faculty and staff understand how best to refer students to disability services here at MCC. The hope is that if our students reach out early for the assistance they need, they are more likely to succeed in class. This workshop helped equip faculty and staff with knowledge and information to be able to provide support to students with disabilities that will foster retention and completion. 19 people participated in the workshops.
