CSTEP students participated in a Research Undergraduate Experience this past summer. 
 
Under the supervision of a scientist or researcher, the MCC CSTEP students  spent a minimum of 40 hours a week conducting research in a national/univeristy laboratory.  Students were selected based on the quality of their applications, academic achievement, and by demonstrating their ability to perform in a laboratory setting.

Research Undergraduate Experience programs funding sources include the National Institutes of Health, Department of Energy, and National Science Foundation.  The goal of the REU is to provide undergraduate students with a meaningful research experience prior to ottainment of a Bachelor Degree.

 
CSTEP is funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department.  Its mission is to increase the number of historically underrepresented and underserved individuals pursuing careers in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics, health and licensed professions.  In 2006, CSTEP celebrated their 20th anniversary.
