Today is the Last Day to Order Tickets for The Price

Today, February 11, is the last day to order tickets for a special Sixth Act viewing of Geva’s production of Arthur Miller’s The Price on Thursday, February 25. Significantly, VaPA is producing another Miller play, The Crucible, at MCC in April, offering MCC the rare possibility of experiencing two Miller plays in one semester.

The Geva play starts at 7:30 p.m. with a running time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, including one 20-minute intermission. There will be a thirty-minute background talk offered free of charge one hour prior to the performance and, as a special addition for The Sixth Act, there will be a talkback with members of the production directly following the performance facilitated by Professor Jim McCusker.

Through special arrangements, Geva has set aside 100 tickets for The Sixth Act. With assistance from Geva and from MCC’s Honors Institute, these tickets can be purchased for only $15 each. Tickets must be ordered through Professor Ann Tippett ("mailto:atippet@monroecc.edu") by February 11.

Geva describes the play: “Sixteen years after the death of their father, two brothers…meet in the attic of their childhood home…. As the brothers examine their parents’ possessions, they revisit the past…and years of pent-up rivalry burst forth.” The Washington Post writes, “Miller at his best…. The heart very nearly breaks,” and The New York Times writes, “One of the most entertaining plays that Miller has ever written…superbly theatrical.”

Finally, please let Maria Brandt ("mailto:mbrandt@monroecc.edu") know if you would like to receive a special, pre-event curriculum packet, filled with original and current reviews of Miller’s play.
