The Public Safety Department is continuing the transition to Peace Officer status at the Brighton campus as empowered by the Board of Trustees resolution on June 9, 2008. Thirteen (13) members of the Public Safety Department will be officially sworn in as Campus Peace Officers on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Four (4) of these members are already certified by New York state to perform the duties of a Campus Peace Officer and the remaining nine (9) officers will begin over 300 hours of training starting Wednesday, February 4, 2009 with a tentative graduation date of September 2009.
