Gold Star to the MAX Raises Over $58,000

Guests “made a splash” at the Monroe Community College Foundation’s Gold Star to the MAX Gala presented by M&T Bank on May 26. Over $58,000 was raised for student scholarships, faculty grants, educational equipment and innovative programs at MCC.

The event was held at Canandaigua Inn on the Lake and featured a classic cocktail party, a Mediterranean-themed, five-course dinner with accompanying wines by Chef Tony Gullace (Max at the Inn/Max of Eastman Place) and a live auction.

The event was co-chaired by MCC Foundation Directors Jean Lahti Nagel (Nagel & SUMMERS) and Don Jeffries (Rochester Broadway Theatre League). Mr. and Mrs. R. Carlos Carballada served as honorary chairs. Howie Jacobson (Dixon Schwabl Advertising), Rochester’s favorite auctioneer, led the live auction with his usual creative flair and humor.

The MCC Jazz Quartet, under the direction of John Nyerges, VaPa, provided the lively, musical atmosphere during the cocktail hour.

Next up: The 22nd Annual Scholarship Open at Monroe Golf Club on Monday, July 10. Foursomes and sponsorships are still available. Please call x1500 for more information.
