Monroe Engineers Capture 2nd and 3rd at National Competition

MCC Engineering Science students won 2nd and 3rd places at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Design Competition held in Indianapolis on June 16th.  The students were required to design and build autonomous robots that could complete five laps around an oval track with obstacles placed in random positions.  MCC’s teams were two of only five entries in the field of 18 that were able to complete all four trials without a navigational error.  MCC’s top scorers were Mycahya Eggleston, Ryan Reber, Daniel Miner, and Justin Plants.  Cedarville University from Ohio took the top prize for the second year in a row.

The MCC Team would like to extend thanks to Betty Stewart and the entire staff of the Office of Student Life and Leadership Development for their support and assistance in making the trip a success.  Michelle Skehan and the Print Shop staff were also invaluable in providing the MCC teams with the most professional posters in the competition.  Finally, the team is indebted to the MCC Public Safety staff for providing student access to the Engineering Prototyping Lab after hours and keeping the students safe.
