Women’s Leadership Roundtable Kicks off AAWCC 2007-2008 Programs

The American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) is dedicated to changing women’s lives through leadership and education, thus strengthening our colleges and communities.

This year the MCC chapter of AAWCC is planning a variety of programs, thanks to the Programming Committee which is led by Martha Palermo and Kim Willis. The November 13th Women’s Leadership Roundtable is open to the entire community– faculty, staff and students. It features a panel discussion with four dynamic women leaders presenting stories of their ‘leadership paths’ to their current positions of leadership in the Rochester area:

  *  Patricia Malgieri, Deputy Mayor, City of Rochester

  *  Sharon Stiller, Partner - Boylan, Brown, Code, Vigdor & Wilson LLP

  *  Iris Bannister, Executive Director, Wilson Commencement Park

  *  Christine Wagner, Executive Director, St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center

This program will be held November 13, 3-4:30 pm, at Damon City Campus, Room 4151 (fourth floor).

In February AAWCC will sponsor a women’s wellness program focusing on exercise, stress management and time management. More information will be available closer to that time.

In addition to these two public programs, there are four programs that are by invitation to the membership. These include a fall open house at Dr. Susan Salvador’s home and a spring open house at Dr. Janet Glocker’s home. While members may bring a guest who is interested in learning more about and/or joining AAWCC, these events are not widely publicized. In December, there is a holiday luncheon that is for members only. This year there will also be a March “Thank You” reception to honor President Flynn.

You, too, can be included on the invitation list for these members-only events. It’s as simple as joining the AAWCC. You can do so by contacting Membership Co-Chairs Mary Rizzo (Brighton ext 2226) or Kathy Baxter (DCC ext 1734). Or you can go to the AAWCC website <
https://web.monroecc.edu/aawcc/> and click on the membership link and then on the membership application form.

Hope to see you at this year’s AAWCC programs!
