Diversity Quilt to be unveiled at PSTF on February 11

A “Diversity Quilt” designed and sewn by MCC faculty and staff will be unveiled at MCC’s Public Safety Training Facility at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11.  Sponsored by the Diversity Council, the quilt pays tribute to the role of the PSTF and its diverse students, faculty, and staff in the areas of Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, and Homeland Security.

The quilt is the work of Rita Straubhaar, project leader (World Languages & Cultures); Debbie Alimentato (Curriculum); Sandy Chamberlain (DCC Academic Support Services); Margaret Kaminsky (Chemistry & Geosciences); Sylvia Lavin (ESOL & Transitional Studies); and Jean Taillie (Advisement & Graduation Services).  It measures 6’x 8’ and is composed of nearly 2,700 pieces of fabric and many photographs.  Its unveiling will be in the PSTF lobby at 1190 Scottsville Rd. and is open to the MCC community.
