ESOL Voices: Student Spotlight
Maha Mohamed
Maha Mohamed is originally from Sudan. After immigrating to Egypt with her family due to war, she eventually moved to Rochester, New York, in 2023 with her mom and eight siblings. She plans to study radiologic technology at Monroe Community College and is excited about the future of this field. In this story, she writes about her close bond with her grandfather (jiddo, in Arabic). His wisdom and kindness continue to shape how she views life and works hard for her dreams. Read Maha's story.
ESOL Voices is a collection of stories written by ESOL students at Monroe Community College. This publication highlights our MCC students who come from all over the world. Look for new stories in the Tribune. Search for older stories on our Omeka page maintained by librarian Dax Parasnis-Samar. We hope you enjoy these stories as much as we do.
