Celebrating the Beginning of Something Big - The New Advanced Technology Center
President Dr. DeAnna R. Burt-Nanna, along with members of the Executive Leadership Team and federal, state, and local officials, gathered Tuesday, April 22, to hold a groundbreaking ceremony to commemorate the first step toward the creation of the new Advanced Technology Center (ATC) on the Brighton Campus. Monroe County and the state (SUNY) each provided $34.817 million for the $69.634 million project, with ten percent of Monroe County’s contribution coming through a $3.5 million federal grant. This marks Monroe County’s single largest investment in MCC in decades. The new facility will double the capacity of the current facility on West Henrietta Road from 53,000 square feet to 110,000 square feet.
This new location will allow MCC to enhance the curriculum for ATC programs, including advanced manufacturing, HVAC, and automotive technology. It will also be home to our optics and photonics programs. In addition to these programs, a roof-area lab is expected to be utilized for solar and thermal instruction. It is scheduled to open in the fall of 2026.
Stay tuned to the Tribune for periodic construction updates and other information about the new ATC!
