Plan and Timeline for Associate Vice President, Academic Affairs

As a follow-up to the two town halls on the Academic and Student Affairs reorganization, progress is being made related to required searches, as well as other vacancies occurring simultaneously which impact the organizational structure. Today, I am sharing the plan and timeline for the Associate Vice President (AVP), Academic Affairs, which will be vacated at the end of March 2023. Additional information about the searches for the AVP, Student Development, and the AVP, Student Success and Strategic Initiatives, will follow this announcement very soon.

The position of AVP, Academic Affairs (formerly AVP, Academic Services), will be examined and potentially reimagined as part of the reorganization of the Academic and Student Affairs Division. Appointing an interim will allow for time to consider any changes to the role and responsibilities. I would like to appoint an interim now using the existing position description; a copy of the position description can be requested from Maureen Karlnoski(mkarlnoski@monroecc.edu).

I invite anyone who is interested in serving in this interim role to send their resume/CV and a one-page cover letter to Maureen Karlnoski(mkarlnoski@monroecc.edu) by 5:00pm on April 21, 2023. Serving as the interim would not preclude you from applying for the permanent position.

AVP, Academic Affairs, timeline:

  • April/May 2023 - Short-term coverage of duties by stipend
  • April 2023 - MCC Daily Tribune announcement for interest in interim position with existing position description
  • May 2023 - Appoint interim AVP, Academic Affairs
  • August 2023 - Academic and Student Affairs leadership, Executive Leadership Team, and President provide feedback on Vice Provost position description
  • September 2023 - Share position description and convene search committee with Special Committee for Administrative Affairs (SCAA)
  • October 2023 - Post position
  • March 11, 13, 15, 2024 - Hold for open forums at noon
  • June 1, 2024 - Target start date
