Blackboard Sunset is a Week Away! 12-21-22 at 5pm

This is your final reminder that Blackboard will be sunsetting on December 21, 2022 at 5 pm EST. Make sure to save what you need from Blackboard. This is one week away!

This includes exports of your course content (if you haven't already brought it into Brightspace), downloading a copy of your gradebooks in excel format,  and anything else you may want to save. Please keep in mind that all old SUNY Online Degrees at Scale Blackboard courses in classroom.suny.edu will also not be accessible after December 21, 2022 at 5 pm.

What happens to Blackboard after December 21, 2022 at 5 pm? We do not have access to Blackboard after this date. If you login to Blackboard, you will see a SUNY message that Blackboard is no longer available and will redirect you to Brightspace. The Blackboard tile will be removed from the new myMCC portal. You will not have access to the old myMCC portal in Blackboard.

Need help backing up? Please see the previous MCC Tribune Announcement from 10/19/22 about backing up your Blackboard Content and Gradebooks. We put together a webpage explaining how to go about saving what you need from Blackboard that includes tutorials. See Blackboard Sunset Details. You will also see some big banners in Brightspace with a countdown timer reminding you of the sunset date.

Course Transfers:

  • If you need help exporting content from your Blackboard course and bringing it into Brightspace, please use our K16 Migration Request Form located in our VC Faculty Center in Brightspace to make this request (this requires login). Requests need to be made by 12/15 at 2 pm.
  • You also have the ability to move your own content out of Blackboard with an export and import into Brightspace (as long as the size of your export file is under 2GB in size). If you have already brought your content into Brightspace this semester (i.e. you were teaching a fall course, you transferred other courses in practice course shells, etc.), you are good.
  • Once the content is in Brightspace, the process to transfer between semesters from shell to shell is much easier and requires you to use the "copy components" feature.

Archives: We are working behind the scenes to archive everything on our system onto a backup site called K16 Scaffold, but please keep in that if you discover that you need something and didn't save it yourself, it will take us much longer to retrieve it for you.

Need Virtual Campus Help? Please reach out to the Virtual Campus (virtualcampus@monroecc.edu) if you need assistance or visit us during our drop-in hours. See our website for support hours. We wanted to remind everyone that we have one in-person drop-in session on 12/19 from 9am to noon and 1 to 4pm if you need help retrieving and transferring any last-minute files. We will be located in 3-122, in our Virtual Campus Training Room.

Thanks for your patience with us during this busy time of year!
