Sergeant Anthony Iacuzzi Completes Firearms Instructor School

MCC Public Safety Acting Sergeant Anthony Iacuzzi completed a two week long Firearms Instructor School at the Public Safety Training Facility.

This is a New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) 70-hour certified course that emphasized instructional and coaching techniques, and the role of the firearms instructor. Students received instruction on the psychology of learning, liability issues, oral communication, lesson planning, range rules, basic fundamentals of shooting, line operations and range commands, scoring techniques, judgmental shooting, and conducting field demonstrations. Each participant was required to demonstrate their understanding of the class material by developing a lesson plan and delivering a 10-minute presentation and a 50-minute presentation. Final student evaluations were based on the lesson plan, the 50-minute presentation, class participation, and a written exam. By successfully completing this program, Sergeant Iacuzzi will be certified as a firearms instructor by the New York State Bureau for Municipal Police.
