TCC: Recognition of Health and Physical Education Department Adjunct Faculty

The Health and Physical Education Department would like to formally acknowledge the continued appreciation and gratitude of our adjuncts, for their ongoing dedication and service to our students and department. We have over 33 adjunct instructors, some with adjunct longevity that spans over 30 years.

They represent a group of instructors that bring a myriad of rich and diverse professional, experiential, and educational backgrounds to our department and classrooms; and are representative of the student population that we serve here at MCC. They are health educators, administrators, counselors, health and wellness coaches, spiritual leaders, social workers, nutritionists, and community pillars from professional fields with specified certifications, degrees and licenses including, M.A.s, M.S.s, Ed. Ds., PhDs., LMSWs, MSHAs, NBC-HWCs, NASMs CPTs, and many more. We are proud to have an adjunct pool that effectively and successfully prepares our students to meet their professional, educational, and wellness goals.

Many of our adjunct faculty experience last-minute shifts in their teaching schedules, including re-assignments to new courses as well as changes in instructional modalities to accommodate the last-minute class cancellations/master schedule changes based on enrollment. This was especially difficult during the pandemic and during the transition back to on-campus instruction; and more recently, the implementation of our new online learning management system, Brightspace. We appreciate their willingness and flexibility in accommodating these changes, challenges, and needs.

We are thankful for their innovation and unwavering commitment to our programs and students, their teaching and strong presence on campus, as well as their continued professional development and leadership at MCC and in our community.
