TRS 105 Fast Track Sections
You may have noticed that all of the daytime sections of TRS 105 this spring are labeled "Fast Track" and are connected via co-requisite to ENG 101 sections. This is because MCC is moving toward a co-requisite model for students at the high end of the developmental reading and writing continuum. The college just received a small grant from SUNY to develop and promote this initiative.
Fast Track is a co-requisite model based on the Accelerated Learning Project (ALP) developed at the Community College of Baltimore County. ALP has been so successful that other institutions across the country, including MCC, have adopted it. English and TRS faculty are piloting this model in the hopes of improving retention and success. Fast Track pairings are intentionally designed so students take their developmental writing course in the same semester as their ENG 101 course, thus decreasing the time they spend in developmental education and providing just in time support for skills necessary in ENG 101.
Faculty and advisors may register students for any one of the 7 pairings being offered in the Spring 2018 semester listed below by entering both CRN numbers. ENG 101 sections ending in A are reserved for this exciting new initiative. Students in the ENG 101 A sections who do not need the accompanying TRS 105 co-requisite course will unfortunately be dropped from the course because they are not the intended audience.
