Students in Alpha Theta Iota, a chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society at MCC, recently received the Five Star Chapter Award, the highest award level given to a chapter.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the chapter has received the award. Alpha Theta Iota also was recognized for its commitment to civil service as their Service Hallmark, a two-year community project focusing on a single issue, was ranked one of the top 25 in the nation. The award recognizes the efforts of the chapter’s service projects with the American Cancer Society and other local nonprofit organizations.
The awards come on the heels of two other distinguished honors given to Alpha Theta Iota members last month: the Pinnacle Obelisk, given to chapters that meet a rigorous three-year goal to increase membership, and recognition as the Most Distinguished Chapter in the New York Region.
