Dr. Chet Rogalski

Dr. Chet Rogalski, MCC’s Dean of Liberal Arts, has accepted the position of Vice President, Dean of Academic Affairs at Westchester Community College.  He will be the chief academic officer for the institution.

Westchester Community College (WCC) is located in Valhalla, New York and is one of our sister SUNY community colleges.   WCC has a student population of 24,000 credit and non-credit students and offers both transfer and technical curricula.  The college also has very strong extension sites throughout Westchester county.

Chet became our Dean of Liberal Arts in Spring 1999, coming from Central Wyoming College where he served as Chair of the Humanities and Fine Arts Division.

Chet brought stability and insightful leadership to the Liberal Arts Division.  In the approximately seven years that Chet has served the college, the Liberal Arts Division has grown by 43% and the college has grown by 14%.  The enrollment growth is attributed in part, to Chet’s leadership of an active division which has undertaken 172 curriculum changes including the launch of 44 new courses.

In addition, Chet chaired the General Education Task Force and led the search for our current Dean of Curriculum and Program Development.  He co-chaired the Academic Advising Committee, led the Middle States Team on institutional assessment and is currently exploring an Honors initiative that would expand on our current Honors concept.

He has generously supported significant on-going initiatives in Liberal Arts – Holocaust Genocide Studies Project, Rochester Parent Network, Poetry Month, Skunk Hour, Otis Young Speech Contest, the International Statistics Conference, the Starkweather Institute and the Creative Arts Committee.

Chet begins his new duties for Westchester Community College on March 27, 2006.

I know you join me in thanking him for his service to MCC and wishing him well at Westchester.
