The Staff Development Committee of the Division of Student Services invites you to hear nationally recognized author and educator Dr. Susan Komives at our annual conference.
Dr. Susan R. Komives is Associate Professor and Program Director of College Student Development graduate program at the University of Maryland. She is former President of the American College Personnel Association and former Vice President for Student Development at Stephens College and the University of Tampa. She is co-editor of two editions of Student Services (Jossey-Bass 1996, 2003), co-author of two editions of Exploring Leadership: For College Students Who Want to Make A Difference (Jossey-Bass 1998, 2007) and Management And Leadership Issues for a New Century (Jossey-Bass 2000). She is co-editor of Handbook of Student Leadership Programs (National Clearinghouse for Leadership Programs, 2006).
Dr. Komives will explore the social construction of leadership with specific applications to her research on college student leadership identity development. She will also share findings from a 52-campus study on leadership outcomes in which MCC participated.
