New Online Databases at MCC Libraries

Welcome to the Fall Semester! The MCC Libraries are pleased to announce that we have added the following online databases to our collection of electronic resources. You can access them via the direct links included below and also from the MCC Libraries website and the Library Services tile in myMCC.

  • Academic Video Online (AVON) - A collection of more than 70,000 titles covering anthropology, business, counseling, film, health, history, music, and more. Includes documentaries, interviews, feature films, performances, news programs, newsreels, and demonstrations.
     
  • Ebscohost Ebook Subscription Diversity and Ethnic Studies - Academic e-books related to anti-racism, disability studies, diversity, ethnic studies, gender and sexuality studies, gerontology & age studies, migration studies, and religious studies.
     
  • New York Times Digital Edition - MCC faculty, students and staff can access content from The New York Times Digital Edition from present back to 1851 through an Academic Site License. Once you have created an account to claim your pass by following the on-screen steps based on whether you are on or off campus, you will then be able to access the New York Times via the web or by mobile apps. For more info on accessing the NYTimes go to: https://libguides.monroecc.edu/NYT. Cooking, Games and e-reader editions (e.g. kindle Fire, Nook, etc.) are not included. However, you can add a subscription to Cooking or Games to your free institutional account.

  • Gender Equity and Justice - This collection of articles explores themes of gender oppression and inequity. Topics covered include gender equity in policy and civic action, reproductive rights, violence against women and gender minorities, and womanism.
     
  • Legacies of Colonialism - This collection of articles explores the ongoing impacts of colonialism and decolonization on identity oppression, education, sociology, health, environment, economy, and religion.
     
  • LGBTQIA+ Research - This collection of articles covers gender identity, hegemonic heterosexuality, intersectionality, queer justice, queer theory, relationships, sexual orientation, and more.
     
  • Structural Racism and Police Violence - This collection of articles covers race and policing, how to address and discuss racism, activism, healthcare and inequality, and more.
