A New Semester- A New myMCC Portal- New Semester Updates!

Welcome to the new semester! If you have been away for the summer, we'd also like to welcome you to our new myMCC portal. The new myMCC is a different tool than the Brightspace Learning Management System. While they both were launched at the same time, the portal is about internal communications and information organization, while Brightspace is your digital classroom.

The new portal has been built around an iterative process. This summer was a soft launch that gave us an opportunity to begin training and getting feedback from our community. We're now in phase #2. In this phase you'll see more areas adding content pages and some tweaks to the main landing page.

The first of these tweaks is that the current Email tile will be changed so that it takes you directly to your email instead of using the live tile version that is active now. We have received a lot of feedback about people's confusion over this tile, and this change should relieve that confusion. The live tile will be retained on the mobile version of the portal, but it will be renamed to Live Web Mail. While the portal email tile will soon take you to your Outlook Web Mail, we strongly encourage you to use the full version of Outlook on your computers or the mobile Outlook app on your phone. These two version are much more full featured than either of the web versions and are the superior experience.

Another change that is coming is that we are going to be redirecting all of our current links to the portal from the old Blackboard based myMCC to the new version. This will occur on 9/7/2022. We have received feedback that this has been confusing. Please understand that we have a detailed plan and that this has been the date on that plan for quite a while. We are also working with Technology Services to include the new portal in all future images of on campus computers.

Finally we're back to weekly trainings! If you can't attend any of the trainings this week, never fear, we'll be offering more next week and throughout the Fall. Please note that we're beginning to offer student focused trainings too. We've included the one this week just in case you want to see the student experience. There is no need to register for the training. Please just put it on your calendar and we'll see you there!
