Faculty Association President Charlie Clarke (Psychology) was quoted in the November 26 issue of New York Teacher, the official publication of New York State United Teachers. The article, “Making a positive impact on higher ed: VOTE-COPE” explores how -- in response to state budget cuts -- the union communicates the vital role of community colleges to legislators and New York state residents.
VOTE-COPE is NYSUT's non-partisan political action fund that coordinates the voluntary contributions of members and supports NYSUT-endorsed candidates and campaign committees that are pro-public education and pro-labor.
Clarke noted how MCC “members are choosing to give to VOTE-COPE more than ever…because they get a big return on their investment.” As stated in the article, through the Faculty Association, MCC faculty and staff have increased giving to VOTE-COPE by 60 percent in recent years.
