Tech Tip - Calling in Microsoft Teams

Did you know that you can call people (talk to them) through Teams?

Once logged into Microsoft Teams –

  • Click on Chat in left-hand navigation.
  • Click on a name of a person in your chat list *or* click on the new message icon and search for that person in the To field. Their availability will show as a colored dot on their avatar.
  • You can hover over their avatar to see their status as a word or phrase.
  • If they are green (available) you can reach them in Teams! You can only speak to people who are logged in to Teams.
  • On the far right you have the option to start a video chat (camera icon) or phone call (handset icon).
  • When you click on the handset icon to call you will hear ‘ringing’ until your recipient answers. In the upper-right corner are options and the LEAVE button to hang up.

Need help getting started with Microsoft Teams? Call the Employee Technology Support Center at (585) 292-8324, option 3, Monday through Friday, 8:45am to 4:45pm.
