Scam Warning: Fake MCC Job Offer Emails

This information was sent to students in an MCC Broadcast email on Friday November 4 at 11:36am.

Dear Student,

Please beware that hacked student accounts have been sending out phishing emails to other students advertising MCC jobs that don’t really exist. The emails direct you to fill out an application, which collects your account sign-on credentials and other personal information. Phishing attackers then use this information to gain access to your accounts in order to send more phishing attacks and perpetrate even more scams.

Nobody at MCC, especially a fellow student, is going to send you an email that offers you a real job or threatens your access to specific accounts or systems, etc. by linking you to a Google doc or website that asks for your personal information, such as username and password. Please do not respond to these emails or click on any links; immediately delete them.

Do not share your password with anyone, inside or outside of MCC, and never use your MCC password for non-MCC systems.

If you think you provided your personal information to a phishing attacker in error, please immediately notify the Student Technology Help Desk at TechnologyHelp@student.monroecc.edu for assistance.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
