ESTABLISHING A TOBACCO-FREE POLICY ON CAMPUS: THE OTC STORY
A completely tobacco-free campus is still almost unheard of. This is not to say that policymakers, students, and staff are unaware of the inherent problems of tobacco use on campus, it has just seemed an insurmountable obstacle to date. Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) in Springfield, Missouri took the leap to eradicate tobacco use from the college grounds in fall 2003 after much consideration and planning, and upon reaching the conclusion that it was just the right thing to do.
