Tournament Honors Joe Richardson, Supports Scholarships

Participants and volunteers raised $6,274 for student scholarships at the first Joseph Richardson Golf Tournament on Sept. 12 at Brockport Country Club. The proceeds include a matching gift from the Pfizer Foundation.

Joe Richardson was an MCC admissions counselor who passed away in January 2004. The Joseph Richardson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by his coworkers, friends and family through the MCC Foundation. Richardson was recognized for his commitment to higher education and students with non-traditional backgrounds.

A primary goal of the tournament committee is to raise a minimum of $10,000 in order to establish an endowed scholarship.

If you would like to contribute to the Joseph Richardson Memorial Scholarship Fund, please forward a check made payable to the MCC Foundation and note that it is in support of the fund within the memo section.

The second annual tournament will be scheduled for September 2005.
