TCC: Recognizing Psychology Department Adjunct Faculty

In the Psychology Department, our adjunct faculty members teach almost 40% of the sections we offer. Some have been with us for decades; others are more recent arrivals to our Psychology family. The department simply would not function without them. We rely on them to do the excellent work they do, for little pay and even fewer accolades.

Among their ranks, we have licensed psychologists and counselors, entrepreneurs, and faculty with full-time positions at other institutions.  Here are just a few examples of the experiences our adjuncts bring to the classroom:

  • Professor Crosetti works fulltime at RIT in the College Restoration Program.
  • Professor Lanzafame volunteers at her child’s school and sits on the Parent-Teacher Association for her school district.
  • Professor Loshigian is the Director of the Center for Healthy Living at Long Island University.
  • Professor DeGraff was a school psychologist for 28 years before retiring from that job, and in addition to taking on the role of adjunct at MCC, she also conducts preschool psychological evaluations, functional behavioral assessments, parent training, and behavior consultation.
  • Professor Ciaccia has worked in a variety of clinical and academic settings, and for 30 years worked as a psychologist for New York State, providing therapy primarily for sex offenders, and representing the agency in courtroom proceedings.

Our adjunct faculty members bring that wealth of personal and professional experience with them to our classrooms, dramatically bringing the course material to life. We are very lucky to have them, and so are our students.
