SNAP-Ed Nutritional Tabling Event

Proper nutrition plays a vital role in the success of our students. Studies show that eating healthy is linked with better academic performance, increased brain function, stress reduction and reduced illnesses. Yet, it can be very challenging for our students to consume an optimal diet, especially for nontraditional students. They may be balancing a full-time course load, with working full-time, and family responsibilities at home. The stress of this balancing act coupled with limited free time can make it easy for them to put their health and proper nutrition on the back burner. However, this in turn can negatively impact their academic performance and overall health. For this reason, it is important for us to help them find ways to prioritize and make time to properly nourish themselves.

To highlight this important topic, our Counseling Center, Disability Services and Health Services Department has partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension/SNAP-Ed to provide a fun, educational and tasty tabling event. A rep from SNAP-Ed will have their table set up at our Brighton Campus Terrace tomorrow from 11:00am to 1:00pm. They will be providing educational material on proper nutrition, healthy cooking tips, a free food sample and a small gift for students who stop by. Please help us spread the word and encourage students to stop by!
