Women's History Month AAWCC Profile: Get to Know April Iacuzzi

April Iacuzzi is an executive committee member of MCC’s chapter of the American Association of Women in Community Colleges and a finance specialist in the Controller’s Accounting Services Department. To celebrate Women’s History Month, we asked April some questions as a chance for her MCC colleagues to get to know her better.

Veronica: Why do you think women’s history is essential?

April:  I think it is essential because it creates friendships. It is easier to bond with women who have gone through similar experiences as you. These friendships with other women complement us and make us better. It helps us create an essential legacy through these friendships and connections to pass on to the next generation of women. AAWCC is a group that enables this to happen.

Veronica: What woman has had the most influence on you?

April: My grandmother because she helped raise me. She molded me into the woman I am today.

Veronica: What is your favorite part about working for MCC?

April:  In the nearly 25 years that I have been here, I have formed lifelong friendships that I treasure.

Veronica: If you could have any profession, what would it be and why?

April: I’m doing it. I enjoy working with numbers, and my accounting profession allows me to do that. If I had to choose another profession, it would be working with animals, such as dog or horse training.  I have both as pets and enjoy working with them.

Veronica: What is your spirit animal, and why?

April: A horse. Each of us has our race to run in life set out for us, and a horse is a free-spirited animal.  My horse, every morning, when in the pasture, will run fast and furious, like there is no care in the world, and just enjoys life!
