Earth Day: April 22

April 22 marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. This day was chosen in 1970 since it fell between spring break and final exams so it could maximize student participation. At MCC, we extend the celebration of Earth Day beyond just the day to allow more students to participate in events.

In 2023, the Earth Day theme is Invest in Our Planet and encourages putting ideas into practice in an equitable manner to help secure a green, prosperous, and equitable future.  Read in more detail about Earth Day 2023.
