TCC Gratitude Series, day 7: An assortment of appreciations

Please continue to enjoy the kind and sincere words of MCC's students in our 7th of 10 installments of TCC Kudos this semester.

  • Nomination: Chris Langswager, Automotive
Thank you all for being an extremely helpful and attentive professor for automotive! I was always fearful of taking this class and didn't do too well in undergrad when I took the course. This time, I not only did really well but I really understood the information and enjoyed learning.
  • Nomination: Todd Korol, Business Administration
Not only has he allowed for a smooth running intro to business course, but he also helped step in advising me when I was in a not-so-familiar situation in regards to registering for classes, graduating on time, and transferring. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, answering all my questions. I also can’t forget to mention that he did this all with a kind and positive attitude, which made me feel much more comfortable reaching out for help and getting the guidance needed.
  • Nomination: Lauren Blew, Business Administration
Professor Blew makes it her duty to provide all the resources needed for the course to her students. All the information we need is provided on Brightspace and it is very organized. She takes the time out to explain the concept during class and always makes sure we understand. However, what really stands out to me about Professor Blew is how she makes herself available to us outside of the classroom. She has regular office hours and responds to emails in a timely manner. She is always willing to go over problems with students outside the classroom.
  • Nomination: Evelyn Lannak, Hospitalities
Thank you so much for taking the time out to go above and beyond to make sure I am successful in my studies and courses.
  • Nomination: Joe Sturnick, Criminal Justice
He has faith in all his students to succeed. He allows anything and everything for a student to do great. He has taught me a lot
  • Receiving 2 nominations: Joseph Scanlon, A/H/P/S
    • Every day I walk into one of Professor Scanlon’s classes, I know that he will bring an engaging, enthusiastic, and welcoming environment to the room. The whole class can tell that Professor Scanlon is not only an expert in his field, but that he cares about it. I wasn’t one to truly like walking up before 9, but with Scanlon’s 9:30 class, it was worth it. Taking his classes also allowed students without a voice to speak up, and for that, I feel grateful.
    • He is a fabulous professor who teaches his classes with passion and dedication. Also, his encouraging aura in class helps build a good connection in classrooms.
  • Receiving 2 nominations: Donna Burke, Transitional Studies
    • Professor Burke is a genuinely good human being. She is helpful in just about every way. She gave up time at home on a Sunday to help me with a presentation that I was having trouble with, and she somehow manages to create a comfortable atmosphere when engaging in her class. She's encouraging, kind, and wants the very best for everyone. She gave me the push that I needed to get through all of my classes. Everyone should take her classes. I have gained so much knowledge because of her, and she doesn't know it, but she helped me conquer my fear of asking for help in not only college but my everyday life. For all of this, I am eternally thankful.
    • As of my first year of college, she was the best professor I ever came across. She made sure I didn’t give up but also let me know how great of a job I was doing. She actually acknowledges your hard work. She really has been my biggest motivator thus far! Thank you!
  • Receiving 3 nominations: Eric Berg, Transitional Studies
    • He has been super helpful and kind throughout the semester so far! Every time I needed help or had a question he was right on top of it helping me out! Definitely one of the best professors I’ve had so far. Thank you!!
    • His personality is the main reason I was excited to come to math. He's very clear in his teachings and was very considerate of late work.
    • Professor Berg is very kind and understanding. I have always struggled with math, but I have been getting great grades and I'm understanding the lessons perfectly due to how he teaches. He makes sure every student has understood the lesson before he moves on (goes at a pace everyone understands). The classroom environment is overall a very positive learning experience!
  • Receiving 4 nominations: Meghan Glaser
    • She’s awesome, patient, and understanding. She listens well and really cares that we understand the work. Need more professors like her.
    • Professor Glaser is a one-of-a-kind professor. On just the first day of class, she made it her mission to connect with each and every student and memorize everyone's names. She takes time to recognize outside responsibilities and classwork and tries to help not only within the parameters of English 101 but in all aspects of education and life. She truly cares about each and every single student and their success. Her devotion to her students and her student's success should never go unrecognized. Not only is she a phenomenal educator but she is also an amazing human and deserves every ounce of recognition.
    • Professor Glaser genuinely cares about her students and their well-being. She goes above and beyond to ensure her students understand the class content, breaking down assignments into easy-to-digest steps. Undoubtedly one of the most invested, thoughtful teacher/professors I have worked with.
    • Went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable with the classwork, and made sure that when I missed a class I could make it up easily and quickly. I look forward to having her as a professor in the future!!

The following were late nominations from faculty for two very special adjunct faculty members:

  • Nomination:  Barb Litterio, Health and PE
Barb Litterio started teaching classes in the Health and Physical Education Department in 1985.  We are grateful to have had her teaching our students for a number of years as she is a great asset.  Barb has taught various courses, from Emotional Wellness to Stress Management to Yoga, and passes along her wisdom with a very caring and student-centered approach.   Barb is creative in her methods and is always working to improve the student experience and outcomes.
  • Nomination:  Pat Dano, Health and PE
Kudos to Pat Dano who has worked at MCC for about five decades.  Although she once retired from MCC, we were lucky enough to have her come back and teach as an Adjunct Faculty member in Health and PE.  In her most recent years, Pat has taken a leadership role with HPE safety courses. Pat shows great dedication and enthusiasm with her teaching and is constantly thinking of ways to make her lessons engaging.  After having total knee replacement surgery, Pat persisted in figuring out a way to teach the CPR portion of her classes without damaging her knee.  Now that's dedication!
