Please Let Students Know: Service-Learning Scholarship Available


Students who have taken at least one Service-Learning class and are registering for one in the spring and graduating this spring are eligible for the Snowball Scholarship.  The deadline is November 13th.  Pick up an application from Service-Learning at the Damon City Campus in 5070.

BACKGROUND
The Snowball Scholarship for Service-Learning was established at Monroe Community College in 2007 by Mary and John Seebach.  The goal of the scholarship is to recognize good character and promote community engagement.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Snowball Scholarship for Service-Learning will award $1,500 annually and may be awarded to one or more students.  The scholarship award is applicable toward the spring semester at Monroe Community College.

SCHOLARSHIP CRIITERIA
Scholarship applicants must:

be a full-time student in the spring semester participating in the Service-Learning program with at least one Service-Learning course completed, and will be registered for a spring Service-Learning course. 

be graduating in May 2013.
demonstrate financial need with a FAFSA on file
have a minimum GPA of 2.5

Preference will be given to Joseph C. Wilson Magnet graduates. 

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION AND APPLICATION DEADLINE
Award selection will be made by the Snowball Scholarship for Service-Learning Committee.  Applicants must have a FAFSA on file and must complete the Snowball Scholarship for Service-Learning Application. 

The Scholarship application must be returned to Tracy Wyant, Coordinator of Service-Learning, 228 East Main Street, Rochester, NY 14604 no later than November 13, 2013 .  Scholarship winners will be notified by December 31, 2013.

Note:  The scholarship award will be presented in person to the selected student(s) at a reception held at the Brighton Campus in May.
