Women's Lacrosse nets first-ever win


The Monroe Community College women's lacrosse program came out victorious in its first game, defeating visiting Cayuga CC 16-4 on John L. DiMarco Field Tuesday.
Megan VanValkenburg (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) scored MCC's first-ever goal with 20:38 remaining in the opening half. It was the first of a seven-goal run by the Tribunes, turning a 1-0 deficit into an insurmountable lead.
VanValkenburg finished with four goals on the game. Brett Vyverberg (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) added four goals and a pair of assists and Dana Chubb (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) tallied all four of her scores in the second half.
Shannon Harris (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) added two goals, while Hollie Williams (Syracuse, NY/Tully) and Carey Glover (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) each had one.
Amanda Shapiro (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) played well in goal for the Tribunes, making seven saves.
