National Black AIDS Awareness Day will be recognized TODAY -- Wednesday, February 27, 2013 -- at the Damon City Campus on the 5th floor. 15-20 local health agencies will be located on the 5th floor atrium to answer health questions and to provide health and wellness information from 11 am to 2 pm. Rapid Testing will also be available in the massage therapy clinic from noon to 2 pm. Get tested and KNOW your results in 15 minutes.
HIV/AIDS Stats:
- According to the CDC, 15% of all new HIV/AIDS diagnosis nationally are persons were 50 years old and older.
- In Monroe County, 30% new cases where White, 54% were Black and 13% were of Hispanic descent.
- 7% of newly diagnosed persons in Monroe County are between the ages of 13-19; 17% are between the ages of 20-24 and 13% are between the ages of 25-29.
