The Do's and Don'ts of Grading-Part 5

The Do’s and Don’ts of Grading- Part 5

The excitement is palatable as the grade rosters make their journey to the faculty. We in R&R can’t wait to welcome them back home after their vacations all over Monroe County. They aren’t much to look at but we love them just the same. Keeping in mind our attachment to the little bubble forms…

DO make note of the cycle numbers: Damon courses are cycle 14, Brighton full semester courses and a few mini courses are cycle 13, the remaining Brighton mini courses are cycle 15. If you don’t have your roster, which has the cycle number printed on it, and you are inputting a Brighton course online, you may need to try either cycle 13 or 15.

DO remember that grades are due on Monday, December 27 at noon. There will be staff at the Brighton Registration and Records Office processing grades from 9:00-4:00. Grades can also be turned in at the Information Desk at Brighton, at the lock box outside the R&R Office door at Brighton and at the lock box at the Damon security desk.

At the close of business on December 23, the Damon lock box will be moved to the security desk at the Franklin Street entrance. We will pick up the grades in the Franklin Street lock box shortly after noon on December 27. Grades that are put in the Franklin Street lock box after the pickup at noon will not be picked up until January 2. If you are turning in your grades after the 12:00 deadline on the 27, please bring the rosters to the Brighton campus for immediate processing.

DO remember that we are as excited to be here during the Christmas break as you are. Actually we are LESS excited because we have to stay here all day and you get to drop off your roster and leave!

DO remember that grade reports are mailed to students on December 28. Therefore, any grade rosters that are turned in late will NOT be reflected on the first grade report run. We will begin running student grade reports daily on January 2 to pick up late grades and grade changes.

DO remember that it is a FERPA violation to post student’s grades UNLESS you have written permission from each student OR you post them in random order using only a portion of their SSN as an identifier. You cannot post them in alphabetical order even with just a portion of the SSN.

DO remember that for the most part grading goes smoothly and almost everyone turns in perfect rosters on or before the deadline. The MCC faculty are easy and fun to work with and we enjoy being able to talk to you or see you in person during the holidays even though it is work related!  Thank you for all you do to make our work easier. We try to do the same for you!
