TCC: Spring Conversation #3 *This Thursday*, April 20, "Students Using Strengths to Overcome Struggles"

The 2021 Hope Survey Report provides statistics and quotes from college students, including the fact that most of them face real hardships along their academic journeys. Three in five students reported experiencing some form of food or housing insecurity during the pandemic, and one captured the sentiments of many by saying, “We are trying, but life keeps knocking us down. Thank you to those who support us and understand us.”

Please join the TCC at 9:30am on Thursday, April 20, for its last conversation of the year, “Students Using Strengths to Overcome Struggles,” featuring a student panel drawn from COS 181 courses. COS 181 is an academic recovery course designed for students who are striving to achieve Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and to advance in their program of study. In that class, students research topics, such as essentials for learning, life balance, SMART goals, mindsets, college resources, and motivation, to create an individualized college success plan based on their personal academic journey. Come hear how our students leverage their unique assets to address difficulties and achieve success.

This event is hybrid. We will meet in the TCC, 12-201, and on Zoom, on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 9:30am. See the Events Calendar listing to add directly to your calendar. All faculty and staff are welcome!

This event is designed to meet the following goals of the Teaching and Creativity Center's programming:

  • Goal 1: Create a culture of critical reflection, continual growth, and collaboration for faculty at all stages of professional growth
  • Goal 3: Facilitate faculty inquiry into the study of teaching & learning with an equity lens
