Sparrow Hazen's Illustration Selected for MCC's 2022 Holiday Card

Please join me in congratulating MCC's Commercial Art & Illustration student Sparrow Hazen for their winning illustration that adorns MCC’s 2022 holiday card. The illustration is attached to this article.

Inspired by Professor Jason Smith (School of Arts & Humanities/Visual and Performing Arts), Sparrow and classmates developed visual solutions with the theme “Transformation“ in mind.

MCC’s Vice Presidents and I selected Sparrow’s creation as the top visual solution for this year’s holiday card. Congratulations also to Sarah Steiger and MaKendra VanGee, who earned 2nd and 3rd place honors respectively, and all of the Commercial Art and Illustration program students who participated.

Each time MCC inspires students to see themselves as scholars, leaders, peacemakers, and artists, we receive a gift that transcends expectations. We have much to celebrate this season and even more to look forward to in 2023.

Attachment Caption: Placed on a black backdrop, the image is of a leaf and snowflake joined together. The leaf portion is on the left and its top is green, the color of spring, as you move down the leaf the colors change to a mixture of yellows, oranges, purple, and brown with the leaf stem at the bottom. The right portion is a half-circle and is a snowflake, with various diamonds, triangles, and rectangles making up its design. These different shapes are a variety of colors, white, teal, and a light purple. The space in between the different shapes is black.
