Register Today! Essential Discussions on Preparing Citizens & Professionals through Humanities Education

Register today for Preparing Citizens & Professionals through Humanities Education, the tenth event in our series of Essential Discussions: Conversations at Monroe Community College. The Essential Discussions series explores topics that are shaping the postsecondary agenda.

MCC will host this one-day colloquium on Wednesday, March 18, 2020. The event will be held from 8:30 am to 2:45 pm in the Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Monroe A & B). The event will also be live streamed to the Downtown Campus, High Falls A.*

Conceptualized by MCC's Institute for the Humanities, this year's essential discussion will position the arts, humanities, and social sciences as central to the mission of the community college. In their capacity to educate the whole student, these fields of study remain vital constituents in effective preparation for careers and civic engagement--thus strengthening both our economy and democracy.

The colloquium will feature Paula Krebs, Ph.D., executive director, Modern Language Association; and Roosevelt Montás, Ph.D., senior lecturer in American Studies and English, Columbia University, and former director of Columbia's Center for the Core Curriculum.

Response panels comprising student, faculty, and administrator perspectives from a variety of institutions will follow the morning and afternoon keynote presentations.

Please register online by Monday, March 9. This event is free and open to the public. We hope you will join us!
