September is Suicide Awareness & Prevention Month
Today marks the first day of Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month. While suicide can be a difficult topic to discuss, it is one that should be talked about openly and honestly as it is proven that more open discourse saves lives. According to the National Institute of Health, suicide is the second-leading cause of death among people ages 15 to 24 in the United States. The MCC Counseling Center is committed to sharing resources, raising awareness, and fostering compassion to help people overcome barriers and access the support they deserve. In our growing efforts to share resources, the Counseling Center will be offering various events throughout the month of September highlighting suicide prevention. Please see below for event dates and times, and if this of interest, please stay tuned to the daily Tribune for additional details for each event.
