Passing of Judge Elma Bellini, MCC Law & Criminal Justice Adjunct and Hall of Fame Recipient
Today I share the sad news that Judge Elma Bellini, MCC law & criminal justice adjunct and 2005 MCC Hall of Fame recipient, died on March 4, 2018 at the age of 63. Judge Bellini, who earned her A.S. degree from MCC in 1974, received a B.S. from The College at Brockport and J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law.
After serving in the Monroe County Public Defender's Office, she served as a Monroe County Judge and was elected to the NYS Supreme Court in 2008. In addition to teaching at MCC, she was involved in a variety of community organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Camp Good Days and Special Times and the Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys.
In 2005, on the occasion of being inducted into the Monroe Community College Foundation Hall of Fame, Judge Bellini said, "I am very honored. I believe my achievements show that one can get an excellent start in a community college."
