TCC: Next Week's Conversations on Remote Teaching and Learning

Assessing without testing facilitated by Amanda Colosimo - Monday, 6/15, 11 - noon

We know that online testing leaves a lot of room for cheating. While there is an intrepid committee figuring out online proctoring, let's talk about other options for assessing student learning. What do we really need them to learn? How do we know they learned that? How do they know they learned that? Join Amanda Colosimo (CHE/GEO) who has experimented with different types of assessments (including tests). Maybe you'll leave with new assessment methods that you'll never want to give up!

Bandwidth Recovery for Remote Learning facilitated by members of the Friday Bandwidth Recovery book group - Tuesday, 6/16, 9:30 - 10:30 am

Let's face it, "bandwidth depletion" is real, but "bandwidth recovery" and student success in the virtual realms of academia are possible. Our College community had to quickly and seamlessly transition to 100% remote learning due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. How are you and your students doing in this virtual world? Our panelists define the challenge and share practices to foster the "recovery" in our students and help "level the playing field" of uncertainty. Join our group comprised of faculty and professional staff who have been inspired by Bandwidth Recovery: Helping Students Reclaim Cognitive Resources Lost to Poverty Racism, and Social Marginalization (Verschelden, 2017) to enhance your practice.
