Passing of Janice O'Brien, Retired Professor, and Librarian

I am sad to share the news of the recent passing of retiree Janice O’Brien. Janice died on December 31, 2024, in Georgia at the age of 88.

Janice began her career at MCC in 1961, the year it was founded, as a reference librarian. In 1964, she was named an instructor in the library. In 1967, she was promoted to assistant professor and, in 1975, to associate professor. She was promoted to assistant librarian in 1979 and retired from MCC after more than 30 years of service when she was named associate professor emeritus for her distinguished service.

She is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. You can view Janice’s full obituary on the Dignity Memorial website.
