Dr. Emeterio M. Otero, Executive Dean of the Damon City Campus, was the keynote speaker at the Puerto Rican Youth Development (PRYD) College Fair at School #9 on January 30. In addition to prospective college students, the audience included parents, RCSD principals and school counselors, and PRYD staff. His presentation focused on Latinos and the goal of placing a high value on education. Dr. Otero offered a theory that explains the gap between Latino values and higher education enrollment, and stressed the benefits of higher education and preparing for the knowledge economy.
PRYD has been serving the Hispanic community for 40 years, and is a subsidiary of the Ibero-American Action League.
