Message of Gratitude
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
“I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual.” — Henry David Thoreau
As the holiday season approaches, I have been reflecting on all we have accomplished together over the last year.
Thanks to the efforts of our locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally renowned faculty and staff, our enrollment has increased for a fourth consecutive year, and we have achieved our highest graduation rate in 20 years.
Our goal of creating a new, state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Center is well underway, and funding has been secured for the new RochesterWorks Downtown Career Center. By expanding existing in-demand programs and offering additional support services, we fuel economic growth by connecting employers with a highly trained workforce.
The tremendous work being done by our Unlocking Opportunity: The Post-Graduation Success and Equity Network committees further establishes our commitment to creating a supportive environment for our students to learn, grow, and thrive. Last week, our Unlocking Opportunity coaches praised us for the significant progress MCC is making in helping more students find meaningful careers that offer a family-sustaining wage.
To our students – I am impressed by your strength and resilience. Your unwavering spirit as you work to create a better future for yourself and your family is truly something to behold. We pledge to continue our efforts to create a more inclusive environment and address issues like food and housing insecurity.
To our faculty and staff, your compassion, dedication, and enthusiasm are unparalleled. Regardless of your role at MCC, each of you impacts our students’ success. Together, through our innovative teaching methods, community partnerships, and student support initiatives, we prepare our graduates to excel in a competitive job market and ultimately transform their lives.
We must continue to break down barriers, embrace new opportunities, and support each other as we work towards our common goals. There is still much to be done, and I am grateful to you all for your dedication to our mission and vision. Best of luck as we close out the fall semester.
When I count my blessings this holiday season, our remarkable MCC family will be at the top of my list. I am proud to serve such an impressive institution.
Warmest wishes during the holiday season –
