The Monroe Community College women's soccer team continued its unbeaten season Sunday, defeating County College of Morris 5-0 to capture the District G championship
Up next for the Tribunes (17-0-2) is a trip to the NJCAA Division I national tournament at Darton College in Albany, GA, Nov. 16-19. MCC is the two-time defending national champion.
Rachel Murphy (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland) scored a hat trick for MCC, including the first goal of the game with 15:22 remaining in the opening half on a pass from Ayana Russell (Las Lomas, Trinidad/El Dorado). Murphy added two second-half goals to help bolster the MCC lead
Jennifer Bordoni (Homer, NY/Homer) scored on a penalty kick with 9:41 remaining in the first half to give the Tribunes a 2-0 lead. Colleen Hilliker (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) added another goal before the half, working a perfect give-and-go with Kerrie Brown (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) for the score.
Megan Murray (Greece, NY/Greece Athena) made one save in the first half for Monroe. Katie Kopp (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) played the second half without facing a shot.
