ICYMI: Monroe Community College Participating in Expansion of Mental Health First Aid Project
The New York State Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors, partnering with the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), launched the second year of the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)/Harm Reduction in Higher Education Project.
The National Council for Mental Wellbeing developed the program, which is an evidence-based training program that teaches individuals how to recognize, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges. This training provides the skills to offer initial support until professional help is available.
In addition to MCC, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Orange, Vassar College, and York College/CUNY (NYC) are entering the program's second year.
Read more about the program on the NYS Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors, Inc. website.
