Passing of Janet Dalke, Secretary II, Health & Physical Education Department
I regretfully inform the college community that Janet Dalke passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the age of 69.
Janet began her career at Monroe Community College in 1993 as a Clerk II in the Admissions Department. In 1996, she transitioned to the Registration & Records Department, and by 1999, she was serving as a Secretary II in the Mathematics Department. She concluded her career as a Secretary II in the Health and Physical Education Department, retiring from MCC on December 31, 2013.
Janet is survived by her husband, Doug, her daughters Lisa Townsend and Tracy (Paul) Fusco, Doug’s children Dustin, Courtney, and Maggie, as well as her grandchildren Sam, Griffin, Noah, Kimberly, Ariane, Cyrus, Gabriella, Keegan, and Anthony.
Her mother, Dolores Dorfner, also survives her, along with siblings Marilyn (Bill) Edwards, Noreen (Mike) Kohler, Harold (Leesah) Zink, nieces Shelby (Ryan Pierson) Zink and Marlana Zink, and extended family Linda Larner, Kathy (Todd) Obbie, Mike (Carol) Dorfner, and Chris (Holly) Dorfner. She is predeceased by her father, Harold Zink, and stepfather, Jim Dorfner.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 10am at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, 220 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14610.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to organizations close to Janet’s heart – the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, Camp Good Days & Special Times, and the Advent House (non-profit comfort care home). Her obituary can be found at Farrell-Ryan Funeral & Cremation Services.
