Summer Safety Tips
We won’t officially call it “summer” just yet—no need to jinx it—but the weather is warmer and campus is definitely quieter. Even with fewer people around, safety is still a top priority. Here are a few reminders from your MCC Public Safety Department to help keep everyone safe:
- Lock it up: Whether it’s your car or your office, don’t leave valuables in plain sight, and always lock up when you step away. Fewer people around doesn’t mean fewer opportunities for theft.
- Pets + cars = no go: Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle. If you see an animal in distress, please call Public Safety right away.
- Stay alert: Be aware of your surroundings and report anything that seems suspicious or out of place. When in doubt, give us a call.
- Working late or on weekends? Let us know when you arrive and when you leave. It’s a simple way to help keep you safe.
- Need an escort to your car at night? We’re happy to walk with you. Just call.
- Review your safety plans: Summer is a great time to refresh your team’s safety protocols. Want to review emergency procedures, discuss de-escalation techniques, or go over active shooter response? We’re here to help.
You can reach Public Safety 24/7/365 at 585-292-2911. Please put this number in your phone contacts.
Enjoy the sunshine (when it shows up), and stay safe out there. After all, this is Rochester—so don’t put away your umbrella (or snow brush) just yet!
